Tony’s is the oldest bar in continuous operation in Kodiak. Originally Tony’s Bar was opened by Anton “Tony” Kvas and his partner Robert “Bob” Pollman in 1940. Because Tony’s is large, and openvirtually every day of the year, it remains the most popular bar on the Island. Tony’s is located in the north corner of the Mall next to Henry’s Restaurant. Tony’s is the place to be during the Kodiak Crab Festival which boasts such events as live music, an arm wrestling competition, and in previous years, a frog jump competition with live frogs. Halloween and New Year’s Eve are also very popular times to be at Tony’s.
